James G. Griffin

James G. Griffin, 77, of Homer, passed away at 12:28 am on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at his home.

There will be a visitation from 5-8pm on Friday, April 11 at Homer Funeral and Cremation Services, 708 S. Main Street in Homer. Private burial of cremated remains at G.A.R. Cemetery in Homer will be at a later date.

James was born July 2, 1947 in Urbana, the son of James Hazo and Juanita Bear Griffin. He married Rita Shaffer on November 22, 1968 in St. Joseph. She survives.

Survivors also include his son, James P. (Amanda) Griffin of Sidell and daughter, Becky (Kevin) Wallace of Urbana; brother, Merle Griffin of Ogden; 5 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.

James worked for the City of Urbana Public Works Department for 36 years. He enjoyed morel and deer hunting, fishing, and watching golf and football.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Calvin Griffin.
