Ray Pruitt, 87, of Seymour, passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2024. Ray was born on January, 10,1937 in Homer, Illinois. He is the son of William and Mittie Hillard Pruitt. Ray loved his country and was a proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He worked as a salesman and union construction laborer for several years. He treasured family, especially enjoying family gatherings and sharing stories. Ray had various interests throughout his life including being in the outdoors, hunting, fishing, antiquing, refinishing wood furniture and repairing small engines and other items, gardening, reading, auctions and garage sales. He enjoyed wildlife, horses and helping care for various animals over the years.
Our beloved Ray is survived by his cherished love of many years, Diane Carper; three daughters, Janey (Dave) Dvorak of Essex, IL, Susan (Reggie) Worlds of Mankato MN and Luisa French of Champaign, IL; one son, Pete Pruitt of Mankato, MN; one brother, Gerald Pruitt of Paxton, IL. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and devoted nephews Andy Pruitt, Chad Pruitt, and Brian Pruitt and many other loving nieces, nephews and family members. He was predeceased by his parents; four sisters, Marie Stonum, Hattie Larkin, Frances Pruitt, and Hester Raymer; and six brothers Jim, Frank, Garner, Lonnie, Lester & Ronald Pruitt.
A visitation will be held from 1-3 pm on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at Homer Funeral and Cremation Services, 708 S. Main Street, Homer, Illinois. A private service will be held at a later date.
Remembrances may be made through contributions to the St. Joseph IL Sons of the American Legion, 233 E. Lincoln, Post Office Box 466, St. Joseph, IL 61873, designating the funds for the Honor Guard.
